Reconsiderations & Appeals

Physicians who receive a Nonaccreditation decision from EACCP may request a formal reconsideration, if they believe that the submitted documentation and evidence justify a different outcome.
Reconsideration is available only for clinical or procedural decisions related to the accreditation or reaccreditation process. Administrative noncompliance (e.g., failure to submit documentation, non-payment of fees, or missing reporting deadlines) is not eligible for appeal.

Reconsideration Process

The physician must submit a written request within 10 calendar days from the date of the accreditation decision.
Only the materials submitted at the time of the original evaluation will be reviewed. No new evidence will be considered.

The request must clearly state the grounds for reconsideration, with reference to specific evidence or documentation previously submitted.

Appeals

If, after the reconsideration review, the original decision is sustained, the physician may formally request an appeal. An appeal is only accepted under the following circumstances:

The accreditation decision was arbitrary, inconsistent with EACCP procedures, or procedurally flawed;

The decision was not supported by substantial evidence already submitted and evaluated.

Appeals are reviewed by a designated Appeal Board, composed of independent professionals who were not involved in the original accreditation process.

Important Notes

The appeals process is available only to physicians who fully participated in all required steps of the accreditation or reaccreditation process.
The outcome of the appeal is final and binding.
EACCP does not recognize third-party advocacy or legal representation in the appeal process; all correspondence must come directly from the physician requesting the appeal.
