Maintaining Accreditation

Accreditation through EACCP is granted for a fixed term of three (3) years, during which time accredited physicians must demonstrate continuous engagement, compliance and clinical reporting to maintain their certified status.

Your Responsibilities as an Accredited Colposcopist

Once accredited, you are required to:

  • Submit monthly documented cases of colposcopy, including images and interpretation, via the designated reporting platform
  • Respect clinical documentation protocols defined by EACCP (case volume, classification, lesion description, biopsy correlation, etc.)
  • Remain compliant with EACCP’s professional, ethical and educational standards throughout the 3-year term
  • Participate in clinical and educational updates, as made available by EACCP or recommended by the Review Board
  • Notify the Secretariat at secretariat@eaccp.org regarding changes to contact, employment, or clinical scope that may affect accreditation status

Post-Accreditation Reporting Requirements

  • Monthly Submission: Every accredited gynecologist must upload a minimum number of colposcopy cases each month
  • Structured Format: Each submission must include image documentation, clinical context and diagnostic reasoning
  • Ongoing Feedback: Periodic peer review and expert feedback will support clinical improvement and ensure consistency

Failure to submit monthly documentation, without valid justification, results in loss of eligibility for reaccreditation. Re-entry will require reapplication and full retraining.

Continuous Compliance Monitoring

EACCP may, at any time during the 3-year accreditation period:

  • Request additional documentation from submitted cases for quality assurance
  • Conduct audits or clinical portfolio reviews in case of irregularities or concerns
  • Suspend or revoke accreditation in cases of ethical breaches, misrepresentation, or persistent non-compliance

Activity Review (Mandatory During Accreditation Term)

At least once during the 3-year accreditation period, EACCP reserves the right to:

  • Observe or audit a live or recorded colposcopy performed by the accredited physician
  • Evaluate diagnostic and biopsy techniques, patient counseling and decision-making
  • Incorporate this observation into the final reaccreditation decision process

Resources and Engagement

While not mandatory, EACCP recommends that accredited physicians:

  • Attend updates or case-based seminars hosted or supported by the EACCP
  • Stay informed with relevant European and international guidelines in colposcopic practice
  • Engage in community case discussions, peer exchange, or mentorship (when offered)
